Permits: During your Upper Mustang Jeep Tour you need to issue the Permits such as ACAP, TIMS card, and RAP to explore and travel around the Annapurna region.

Nepal Visa: Nepal visa is the official document that is issued to a person to explore and stay in a country for different purposes. You need to pay a certain amount for the Nepal visa fee as well depending upon the number of days to stay in Nepal.

Insurance: During your Upper Mustang Jeep Tour in Nepal, make sure you do cover the travel insurance in the high mountains. Which will cover the full expenses of the accident that might occur in the high elevation.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) is required for all trekkers willing to explore the Annapurna region of Nepal. The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) can be issued from the office of the Nepal Tourism Board(NTB), Kathmandu, and also from the office of ACAP in Pokhara. The ACAP permit cost NPR 3000 to each person for a time entry.

Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS CARD)

The Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS CARD) is a way of managing and recording the trekker’s information systematically. All the trekkers need to issue the TIMS card while planning to trek in the high mountains of Nepal. You may issue the TIMS card from the office of the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu.

Restricted Area Permit (RAP)

During your Upper Mustang Jeep Tour, you need to issue the restricted area permit(RAP) from the Department of Immigration office in Kathmandu. The Upper Mustang is a restricted area because it shares the border between Nepal and Tibet(China). The cost of a Restricted Area Permit is USD 500 per person for 10 days and after 10 days one needs to extend the permit to stay more in Upper Mustang.

Autumn Season (September to October)

The Upper Mustang Jeep Tour starts from the capital city of Kathmandu. Following you will explore Pokhara city and then drive to the beautiful small town of Jomsom.

From here, the road is more rough terrain. While offering beautiful mountain views and landscapes. Along with you will =reach Kgabeni. The ancient village with good farming of local organic Apples.

Then we will drive to Ghami and Lomanthang- the capital which offers you beautiful landscapes and the major highlights of the ancient traditional culture.

After, we will drive back following the same route from Ghami to Jomsom and Pokhara the magical city to the capital -Kathmandu. 

Though we will follow the following route:

Kathmandu- Pokhara- Jomsom- Kagbeni- Ghami- Lo Manthang- Ghami- Jomsom- Pokhara- Kathmandu

Upper Mustang Trek Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu (1,310m/4,264 ft)

Welcome to Nepal!! When you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative. After the welcome, you will be assisted with transferring you to your hotel at Thamel which will be 30 to 45 minutes of drive depending upon the traffic condition. When we arrive at the hotel, the representative will help you with all the check-in procedures. Here, you can have some rest and get refreshed at the hotel.

After some relaxation, you can stroll around Thamel to explore the well-known tourist hub of Nepal. You can also buy some leftover stuff you want to get in Thamel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing Day

Today!! We will be exploring the mysterious city of Kathmandu. After breakfast, we will start our day for the trek around Kathmandu. The places we will be exploring today will be Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Swoyambhunath Stupa.

Pashupatinath Temple is one of the biggest Hindu temples in the world which is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the bank of the holy river Bagmati and is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. During your exploration, you will see lots of temples and Hindu devotees around. You will also get to see the cremation procedure of Hindu dead people which is carried out at the bank of Bagmati River.

Bouddhanath Stupa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the biggest Buddhist stupas in terms of size and height. The stupa is built based on the Mahayana Philosophy. You will get a peaceful environment at the stupa premises. 

Swoyambhunath Stupa is the stupa located at the hilltop inside the Kathmandu valley. It offers some good views of the valley. Famous as the Monkey Temple, the stupa is also another World Heritage Site of UNESCO. You will need to hike to the top to get to the stupa and the view is quite stunning in the evening here.

After exploration around Kathmandu, we will return to Thamel and get prepared for our   trek to Upper Mustang. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 3Kathmandu to Pokhara flight drives to Lake Side Street

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to the domestic terminal of the only airport in Kathmandu for your adventurous flight to Pokhara. You will be assisted by our representative for every procedure here. After 25 minutes of the flight, you will land at Pokhara.

Upon your arrival at Pokhara, you will go for a one hour drive which will take you to the lake side hotel. You will spend your overnight at a Lake Side Hotel.

Day 4 Pokhara Drive to Ghasa Overnight At Lodge

Today, after breakfast in the magical city of Pokhara. We will start our drive through the beautiful mountain view along the Besisahr -Baglung Highway. It takes a 6-7 hours drive from Pokhara to reach the beautiful village of Ghasa. Along the Trail, you will witness mesmerizing mountain views such as Annapurna, Machhapuchre, and Dhaulagiri.

Reaching the village of Ghasa, we will check -in at the Hotel. Later explore the village as well. Overnight stay in a Tea/House.

Day 5Ghasa -Drive to Kegbani overnight At Lodge

Early in the morning we will explore the Ghasa village with the travel mates. After breakfast we will commence our drive  towards the Ancient Tibetan village -Kagbeni. Today’s trail passes through the wide trekking trails with the rough and rocky paths. We will be passing via the Marpha, Jomsom to reach the Kagbeni. 

You will be also crossing through the stone carved manis, chortens and the beautiful colorful tibetn flags. After passing the Jomsom, you will be walking on the edge of Kali Gandaki river gorge. As following the trail, we will reach the traditional Buddhist Village. Overnight stay in a Hotel.

Day 6 Kagbeni drives up to Ghami

Today we will be driving towards Ghami which will take around 5 to 6 hours of drive. We will start the day after breakfast at Kagbeni. We will be driving through the side of Kali Gandaki River and cross a bridge at Tyangbe, Chhkusang. Upon arrival at Chhuksang, we will be exploring the cave monastery. After a short time of exploration of the monastery, we will continue our drive and arrive at Chaile after crossing a bridge.

We will continue our drive crossing the Dejong La Pass to reach the beautiful settlement of  Samar, our destination to have lunch for today. After lunch, we will continue on our drive to Ghami crossing the Syanboche La. You can explore Ghami in the evening. Overnight at the Lodge/Tea House.

Day 7Ghami drives to Lo Manthang

Today, we will be heading towards Lo Manthang, the capital of the Forbidden Kingdom, Upper Mustang. We will be driving, enjoying the stunning views of the Himalayan ranges of Annapurna, Nilgiri, Tilicho, and Bhrikuti. We will get to explore the untouched and divine heritage and culture in Lo Manthang. Upon arrival at Lo Manthang, we will spend the remaining day in the isolated region of Mustang. We can also go for the exploration of Logheker Monastery which is 2 to 3 hours of drive. Overnight at the Lodge/Tea House at Lo Manthang.

Day 8Day Explore Lo Manthang

Today!! The day of exploration of the capital of the Mustang, Lo Manthang. We will be exploring one of the best places on this trip today. We will explore the 3 monasteries. The monasteries are Thupchen monastery, Chode Monastery, and Jampa Monastery. We can also go exploring the Buddhist Museum. Now we will be making our visit to the Chhosar cave to explore the Shija Jhong (fortress). 

The caves of Chhosar are used for the burial, meditation as well as for the living purposes also. We will also have a chance to see the way of life of people in Lo Manthang. We will get to see the culture, and tradition of Himalayan people here along with their farming style and the local markets.  

If we have enough time, then we can also make a drive to Kora La border to explore the Nepal-Tibet border. We will spend the night at the lodge/Tea House at Lo Manthang.

Day 09Lo Manthang Drive to Sayngbouchen Overnight Lodge

We will be driving towards Sayngbouchen leaving Lo Manthang behind. After enjoying the delicious breakfast with awesome Mountain views, we will start our drive. We will be driving through the rough road enjoying the beautiful views of the Himalayas.

We will be driving through the settlements of Ghami, Tamagaon, and Gheling. We will also explore the cave of Chungsi during the drive today. Upon arrival at Saynbouchen, we will check into our accommodation and get refreshed. You can explore the village of Saynbouchen in the evening. Overnight at Lodge/Tea House at Saynbouchen.

Day 10Sayngbouchen Drive to Jomsom Overnight At Lodge

Today, we will be driving toward the city of Jomsom. After enjoying the delicious breakfast at the accommodation, we will start our drive descending downwards. Before reaching Jomsom, we will first explore the famous pilgrimage spot of Hindus as well as Buddhist, Muktinath Temple. The temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and many pilgrims make a visit to the temple every year. If you are interested, you can also take a bath in 108 waterspouts along with Pap Kunda and Dharma Kunda. People believe that bathing there will wash away your sins.

After exploring the Muktinath Temple, we will continue our drive towards Jomsom. We will be driving through the ancient village of Kagbeni before reaching Jomsom. Overnight at Lodge/Tea house. 

Day 11Jomsom Dive to Tatopani overnight At Lodge

After breakfast, we will start our drive towards Tatopani (Natural Hot Spring). We will be driving through the rough graveled road enjoying the landscapes and mountain views around.  We will be driving along the Kali Gandaki River. 

We can enjoy the view of the gorge of Kali Gandaki during the ride. Before reaching Tatopani, we will be crossing some villages like Marpha, Tukuche, and Ghasa. When we reach Tatopani, we will explore the area in the evening or late afternoon. You can also take a bath in the hot stream if you are interested. We will spend our overnight at Lodge/Tea House in Tatopani.

Day 12Tatopani drive to Pokhara

After our launch at Tatopani, we will continue our drive to Pokhara via Beni. Upon arrival at Pokhara, we will check into the hotel and overnight at the hotel.

Day 13Pokhara to Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will be driving back to the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu through the Prithivi Highway. The highway is a hilly highway during which we will get to explore the hilly landscapes, some settlements, rivers, forests, and others on our drive today. We will stop at a resort near the Trishuli River bank for lunch. After lunch, we will continue on our drive to Kathmandu.

Upon arrival at Kathmandu and refreshment at the hotel, you can either take a rest or go to buy some items as a memory around the Thamel. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 14Final Departure

Today is the last day of the Upper Mustang  Jeep Tour. You will be given a farewell by us. And you will be assisted with the drive to the airport from Thamel. You will be taken to the airport three hours before your scheduled flight and your trek ends here.
